Boyne Bridge

The Boyne Bridge carrys the Northern Motorway (M1) across the Boyne River, approximately 3km west of Drogheda and some 45km north of Dublin.

The River Boyne is approximately 150m wide and consists of two channels separated by Yellow Island. The river is tidal at the crossing.

The Boyne Valley is one of the most historically significant sites in Ireland. The ancient monuments of Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth lie within 3-5km of the crossing. The three main Williamite crossings of the river at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690 took place adjacent to the bridge location.
