One of the outstanding musicians in present-day Mexico, Shari Mason studied in Mexico City's "Ollin Yolitzli" music school, as well as in the National University's School of Music.  Her first principal teacher was Natalia Gvozdestskaya.  She later went on to get her Master's Degree from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, under the tutelage of Henryk Kowalski.  Between January and September of 2010, she was Concertmistress of the Querétaro Philharmonic in Central Mexico, before winning the audition for the same position in the National Symphony Orchestra (OSN) in Mexico City.  She currently holds this position, as well as that of Concertmistress in the Minería Symphony Orchestra (OSM), also based in Mexico City.

Parallel to her activity with these two important orchestral institutions, Ms. Mason maintains an intense activity as soloist with several of Mexico's leading symphony orchestras, as well as being invited to play chamber music with such luminaries as Vadim Gluzman, Roberto Díaz, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Philippe Quint, Paul Huang, Ani Aznavoorian, Alon Goldstein, and Inon Barnatan, among others.  In 2012, to celebrate the centenary of famous Mexican composer José Pablo Moncayo and under the auspices of the National Council for Culture and the Arts, she participated in the 12-CD commemorative edition of his works, recording his complete chamber music works for violin.  For the Urtext label, she recorded the Brahms A-Major (op. 100) Sonata and Szymanowski's op. 9 Sonata, both with pianist Manuel González.  She has also made orchestral recordings for Naxos with the Minería Symphony Orchestra.

In recognition of her status in Mexico, in the year 2017 she was invited, along with 22 other musicians from 19 countries, to play with the New York Philharmonic and Alan Gilbert for a series of concerts entitled  "A Concert for Unity", celebrating the power of music to unite across borders.
